Smoking cessation may be effective in increasing walking distance, but statistical significance is not reached.
A systematic review including 4 studies with a total of 183 patients in the intervention group and 683 in the control group was abstracted in DARE. Smoking cessation resulted in an increase of 46.7 m in total walking distance (95% CI -19.3 m to 112.7 m).
