A 50-year-old woman injured her achilles tendon 6 months earlier. There was pain behind the heel, but no impairment of function. The middle part of the achilles tendon is thickened, and the tendon is spindle-shaped at ultrasonography, suggesting chronic tendinopathy. The patient received an injection of methylprednisolone under the tendon (taking care not to inject into the tendon).
