Normal findings in compression ultrasonography. In a longitudinal view the popliteal vein collapses when compressed by the ultrasonography probe. The popliteal artery right under the vein does not collapse. The probe is then turned 90° to show the cross section of the vessels. Again, the popliteal vein collapses while the artery remains open. For deep venous thrombosis see video .
