Psoriatic nails are characterized by a variable degree of pitting - small irregularities on the surface. In addition, the distal edge tends to be affected by subungual hyperkeratosis, with consequent onycholysis, and subungual "oil drops" also are usual. The changes are more pronounced in finger- than in toenails.
