A 31-year-old man had his wrist twisted during a bandy game. The next day as he presented at the outpatient clinic there was swelling and haematoma at the wrist. Swelling restricted the wrist movements, otherwise the wrist had moderate mobility. Plain x-ray showed a well-positioned transverse fracture in the middle part of the scaphoid bone. A scaphoid plaster cast was applied. One week later it was replaced with a fibreglass cast. Total immobilization time was 9 weeks.
