Granuloma annulare on the ankle. The skin-coloured nodules are arranged in the form of a ring. Granuloma annulare most often appears on the feet and on the backs of the hands. It is symptomless. The initial change is a small nodule that slowly expands. Widespread, generalized forms are rare. The condition takes various forms and a biopsy is often needed to confirm the diagnosis. The biopsy shows a granulomatous inflammation. Spontaneous healing is common. The cause is unknown.
