Some strains of staphylococcus aureus are capable of inducing bullous lesions. This is a localized form. The uncommon widespread types are "Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome" (SSSS) in adults and Morbus Ritter in newborns. They heal without scarring. Antibiotics are the routine therapy, but the role of corticosteroids is controversial.
