Decubitus ulcer, or a pressure sore, at its initial stage in its typical location, i.e. the heel. A bloody vesicle is a sign of epidermal injury, but the ulcer deepens insidiously and quickly becomes chronic unless the pressure is reduced. Even before the vesicle formation the skin becomes reddened and is sensitive to touch. Modern special mattresses effectively prevent decubitus ulcers.
