A 75-year-old woman was investigated because of anaemia. A pedunculated polyp was found in the sigmoid colon at colonoscopy. Adrenaline is first injected into the mucosa. A diathermy snare is inserted and tightened around the neck of the polyp. Diathermy is applied for about 3 seconds. The polyp is recovered for the pathologist. This polyp turned out to be a tubulovillous adenoma.
