Pityriasis rosea is a common, often pruritic exanthema, lasting a few weeks, maximally two months. The "herald patch" seen in the upper arm, appeared a couple of weeks before the spread of the eruption. Typical mild "collar scaling" is seen best in this primary patch. The longer axis of the ellipsoid lesions on the chest follows the direction of the ribs.
