Shorter duration (3-6 months) of adjuvant chemotherapy for non-metastatic colorectal cancer is not associated with poorer relapse free survival or overall survival than longer duration (9-12 months) chemotherapy.
A Cochrane review included 5 studies with a total of 5 794 subjects. Treatments were always based on 5-FU. Shorter duration of chemotherapy (3-6 months) compared with longer duration (9-12 months) was not associated to poorer relapse free survival (RR 0.96, 95% CI 0.90 to 1.02) and overall survival (RR 0.96, 95% CI 0.91 to 1.02).
