- Antibiotic prophylaxis may not reduce infection rates in elective inguinal hernia surgery .
- Open mesh repair of incisional hernias in adults is superior to suture repair in terms of recurrences, but inferior when considering wound infection .
- Shouldice technique appears to be the best non-mesh method of inguinal hernia repair in terms of recurrence. The use of mesh reduces recurrence even more .
