- Danazol appears to be an effective treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding compared to other medical treatments, but its use is restricted by side effects and limited acceptability .
Surgery, especially hysterectomy, reduces menstrual bleeding at one year more than medical treatments but LNG-IUS appears equally effective in improving quality of life .
