- Office-based screening to detect overt thyroid dysfunction may be indicated in women older than 50 years of age, but evidence of the efficacy of treatment for sublinical thyroid disorders is inconclusive. Treatment is beneficial if serum TSH is above 10 mU/l .
- Levothyroxine (T4) therapy in individuals with mild thyroid failure may lower mean serum total and LDL cholesterol concentrations .
