Cochrane reviews
- In patients with hyperuricemia and hypertension, allopurinol treatment, in addition to lowering serum uric acid, may also lower blood pressure .
- Febuxostat may lower and maintain serum urate levels <6.0 mg/dl (357 mmol/l) more effectively than allopurinol in subjects with hyperuricemia and gout .
- Colchisine may relieve symptoms of acute gout compared to placebo, but it causes very frequent gastrointestinal adverse effects .
