- Proton pump inhibitors might possibly not have any significant effect on cough symptoms in adults or children with gastroesophageal reflux, although the evidence is insufficient .
Treatment with antibiotics appears not to significantly affect the resolution of cough or alter the course of illness in patients with acute cough .
