- Primary surgery may be preferable in the treatment of first traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation in young adults engaged in demanding physical activities, while non-surgical treatment remains the primary treatment option for other patient categories .
- There seems to be no difference between arthroscopic and open surgery in the treatment of anterior shoulder instability as regards recurrent instability, re-injury or need of re-surgery, but the evidence is insufficient .
- Intra-articular lidocaine may be equal to intravenous analgesia (with or without sedation) for reduction of acute anterior shoulder dislocation in terms of immediate success rate, pain during or after reduction and reduction failure .
