Cochrane reviews
- There is insufficient evidence that IVIg (intravenous immunoglobulin) adjuvant therapy provides an advantage compared with the combination of steroids and immunosuppressants for patients with Wegener's granulomatosis .
- Plasma exchange appears to reduce the risk of end-stage kidney disease in patients presenting with severe acute kidney failure secondary to vasculitis .
- Prednisone may not be effective in preventing persistent kidney disease compared with placebo or no treatment in children with newly diagnosed Henoch-Schönlein purpura without significant kidney disease at presentation .
