- Progressive resistance training may be more effective than standard physiotherapy treatment for shoulder dysfunction in patients treated for head and neck cancer, improving pain, disability and range of motion of the shoulder joint, but it does not improve quality of life.
Hyperfractionated radiotherapy appears to be associated with an improvement in overall survival and locoregional control in patients with oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancers compared to conventional radiotherapy .- Screening for oral cancer using a visual examination may not be effective in reducing oral cancer mortality except possibly in high-risk populations .
- Adjuvant chemotherapy, especially concomitant chemoradiotherapy appears to improve overall survival in patients with oral cavity or oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma compared to radiotherapy alone, in both post-surgical and non-resectable settings. Induction chemotherapy may have a smaller effect that falls just below statistical significance.
